Facila uses AI and computer vision to provide real-time visual biofeedback during therapy sessions. Using just a standard webcam, it generates an intuitive chromatic map of facial muscle activation, helping patients understand their exercises, correct errors instantly, and stay motivated throughout rehabilitation.
Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) affect swallowing, breathing, chewing, and articulation. Today, therapists rely almost entirely on visual observation and mirrors, subjective methods that make it difficult to guide patients precisely. A survey of 122 speech-language pathologists confirmed the gap.

38.5% of practitioners find it difficult to explain which muscles to activate or relax, rising to 57.4% when working with children. Source: National survey, 122 SLPs.
Using just a standard webcam, Facila generates a real-time 3D mesh of the patient's face and maps muscle activation onto an intuitive color scale, no sensors, no markers, no specialized equipment.
The patient performs a few simple movements so the system adapts to their unique facial morphology. This takes just seconds and ensures personalized accuracy.
Computer vision models generate a real-time 3D facial mesh, tracking 134 points across the face. Audio-visual multimodal fusion correlates speech and facial movement simultaneously.
An intuitive color scale overlays the face in real time: no color = no activation, green = light, yellow = moderate, red = strong. The patient sees exactly which muscles are working and corrects errors instantly.
Motor learning and neuroplasticity require continuous, precise sensory feedback. During the cognitive phase of learning, when movement demands conscious effort, external visual feedback is crucial. Facila provides exactly this, making neuromuscular reorganization faster and more effective.
Get started todayThe chromatic scale makes invisible muscle activation visible. Patients see in real time which muscles they are activating and at what intensity, replacing the mirror with precise, actionable feedback.
Patients can identify their own motor errors and correct them immediately during exercises, a key mechanism of sensorimotor integration and motor learning that accelerates neuromuscular reorganization.
Facila generates numerical reports with activation values for 134 facial points and temporal multi-line graphs, enabling objective, reproducible monitoring of patient progress across sessions.
Children need clear, simple, and engaging visual cues to understand motor instructions. The color-based feedback is intuitive even for young patients, dramatically increasing motivation and cooperation during sessions.
Preliminary clinical tests on 11 patients (6 children and 5 adults) have shown encouraging results. A structured multicentric validation with 150+ sessions across 3+ clinical environments is underway.
Patients demonstrated improved awareness of their own facial muscle activation patterns during therapy exercises.
Both children and adults showed better capacity to identify and correct motor errors during exercises with visual biofeedback.
Significant increase in patient engagement and motivation, especially in adults. Ongoing work to optimize the experience for young children.
